Life Liners Easy Seal Hoods
A Story of Innovation and Continual Improvement
In 1994 Life Liners introduced the Easy Seal face opening. Up until that time, hood face openings were either too small, preventing donning and doffing over the head, or too large preventing a tight seal on the SCBA mask. By integrating heavy duty elastic into the face opening it could now stretch to over fifteen inches and snap back to its original shape. The result was a hood that went on easy and sealed tightly on the SCBA mask.
In 1997 Life Liners again made a major change to its hood design. While the head had always been double layer, the six-inch front and back bibs had been single layer. To improve protection to the upper chest, back and neck, the bibs were also made double layer and the back bib was extended to eight inches.
In 2003 Life Liners introduced flat lock seams thereby eliminating an uncomfortable bump in the head seam. This latest improvement not only increased the comfort of the hood but added seam strength while greatly improving the hood's over all appearance.
In addition to these innovations the Life Liners hood is unique in the way the bib is attached to the back of the hood. The back hood seam starts at the nape of the neck. This allows the bib to contour to the back of the head and neck. The result is that bunching around the neck is greatly reduced allowing for a tighter seal around the neck. Life Liners hood is the only one on the market with this feature. All other hoods are straight cut along the neck or have a tube pattern which also bunches up around the neck.
On June 8th 2007 most of the assets of Life Liners Inc. including trade names were purchased by Stanfield's Ltd. Stanfield's is an ISO 9001 certified company with its headquarters, knitting and sewing facility in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. An independent sales agent represents the protective FR hood and knit clothing line in the United States.
